Common questions
How much does it cost?
A one-page site is $600 to build, and $50 a month if you want me hosting it and handling changes. Bigger sites cost more; I'll quote the exact number before any work starts and it doesn't move afterward.
How long does it take?
About a week from the point I have your photos and details. The free preview homepage is usually ready within a day or two of our first conversation.
Do I actually own it?
Yes. The domain is registered in your name with your card, and the site files are yours. If you ever want to leave, I hand you everything and help you move it. No hostage situations.
What if I don't like it?
Tell me what's wrong and I'll fix it — two rounds of changes are included, and in practice I keep going until you're happy. If you don't want the site at all, you don't pay the balance.
I already have a Facebook page. Isn't that enough?
Facebook is good for people who already follow you. It won't show up when a stranger searches your trade at 9pm with an emergency, you can't put it on a truck door, and Facebook can change or lock it whenever they want. A site is the one address you control.
Do I need to buy a domain?
Yes, and it's about twelve dollars a year. I'll walk you through registering it in your own name — I don't want it in mine and neither should you.
What do you need from me?
Your logo if you have one, a handful of photos of your work, your hours, and fifteen minutes on the phone. I write the first draft of everything else and you correct it.
